    Located at the southern base of the Shenandoah Valley, our school system serves about 2,500 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.   • NEW! RCPS Superintendent's Podcast

    Rockbridge County Public Schools would like to invite you to listen to the first episode of the RCPS Informational Podcast. These short podcast episodes will discuss different topics in the division that we are often asked about.  These podcasts will be hosted by Dr. Phillip Thompson, division superintendent, and he will dive into the chosen topic along with other division staff members.  The topic of our first podcast is inclement weather related decisions and the process conducted by school division administration when deciding whether to close or delay schools on any given day.  Please be on the lookout for more topics coming soon!


  • RCPS ESSER Funding Public Comment
    Rockbridge County Public Schools (RCPS) is seeking public comment on its plan under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund.

    RCPS was awarded approximately $4.1 million in ARP ESSER funds to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.  RCPS requests input from the public on how funds should be used to assist in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 on teaching and learning.  Commenters may wish to provide input on how students' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs should be addressed, particularly for student groups that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

    Public comment will be accepted through Friday, May 27, 2022.  Input provided will inform the development of the Rockbridge County Public Schools ARP ESSER plan.  To submit your comment CLICK HERE.
