    Children must be (5) five years of age on or before September 30, 2020.  You should register your child at the school in the attendance zone in which you live.  If you need help determining which school is in your attendance zone; please contact Kirstie Campbell at the Transportation Office (540) 463-5437.

    Registration for all Rockbridge County Elementary Schools will begin on Monday, April 13, 2020. Please contact your child’s school to request a registration packet.

    Rockbridge County Public Schools is now recruiting for the 2020-2021 Virginia Preschool Initiative Program. This program is designed to provide a high-quality preschool environment for children who live in Rockbridge County and who will be 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2020.

     Interested parents and guardians should contact to schedule a phone appointment.

    Children are not admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, and are not guaranteed acceptance into the program. State eligibility criteria will be considered first to fill available slots. Remaining slots may be filled with local criteria. 


    Rockbridge County Public Schools encourages families of children with special needs to apply; if children require special accommodations, families should notify school staff members when scheduling the appointment. There is no cost for the program for families and transportation will be provided for preschool students in accordance with the school division’s transportation guidelines. Rockbridge County Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its programs and activities.

    Regular Meeting

    The next regular monthly meeting of the Rockbridge County School Board will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held via electronic means pursuant to the Continuity of Government Ordinance.  School Board members and RCPS Staff members will be participating remotely. 

    As the COVID-19 public health emergency continues, the location and nature of future School Board meetings will determined on a meeting by meeting basis.  The June 9, 2020 School Board meeting will be held via “Zoom” video communications.  Citizens are encouraged to join our meeting by logging into Zoom using the following address link:

    Section 22.1-92 of the Code of Virginia requires that each division superintendent prepare and distribute per pupil expenditure estimates to parents of children in the school division.  These estimates include all phases of instruction, administration, transportation, operations and maintenance, and food service.
