Five elective course offerings are available for the developing musician. These include Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Chorus. To be eligible to take an instrumental class, a prerequisite of successfully completing 8th-grade band must be met. The prerequisite for Chorus is a desire to learn music.

Participants enjoy showcasing their talent in local concerts and regional music festivals, as well as in 3 concerts during the school year. Students may have additional opportunities to travel for enrichment and/or competitive activities.

For all music classes my goal is to ensure that students leave the high school, or the individual class, feeling confident enough to continue to pursue, or simply interact, with music once they have graduated high school. Whether that be participating in choir or band in college, becoming a music major, playing in a community group, or simply thinking deeply about the music they listen to in their daily lives, then I have met my goal. Music has the ability to have a lasting impact on the person, the mind, the body, and the soul and it is my wish that that impact continues throughout an entire lifetime.
